About Julie Daniels

Julie Daniels is one of the foremost names in the sport of dog agility in the United States. She was one of the early champions of the sport and helped many clubs throughout the country get up and running.

In 1993 Julie opened White Mountain Agility, 100 acres of dog agility heaven in North Sandwich, New Hampshire. She developed and teaches the White Mountain Agility Instructor Certification Course, which has honed the skills of hundreds of teachers and thousands of dogs worldwide. She is well known as the premier teacher at all levels of play. She has won at the highest levels, but has always loved teaching beginners. "You can win with the Masters, but you can only change the world with Beginners" is her teaching motto.

Julie is an expert in the art and science of operant training, and her approach works! She loves all dogs, and has won with all sorts of dogs, including two Rottweilers, a Springer Spaniel, a Cairn Terrier, two Corgis, and several Border Collies. She is the only person ever to make the prestigious USDAA Grand Prix national finals with a Rottie or a Springer, and she did it two times each!

In IFCS international competition, Julie is a member of two gold-medal-winning teams, winning in Russia and in Spain. She has been the US National Champion twice as well. She has won many televised events, including the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge and the ESPN Great Outdoor Games. Two of her Border Collies, Spring and Clark, have qualified for the winner-take-all Challengers Round at AKC nationals, and Spring won the event in 2004. Julie and Spring are still the only team to win the International Class three years in a row at Springfield, the largest agility trial in the United States.

Julie's youngest competition dog is a Border Collie named Sport. He is nearly three years old and has quickly earned his MX and MXJ in limited AKC showing. The family has also just adopted a young adult Border Collie named Colt.

To benefit the sport, Julie did a feature on dog agility for Good Morning America. She has also been the expert commentator for agility at the Cynosport World Games, doing live stream video broadcasts seen all around the world. Julie is the author of four agility books and three DVDs. Her most recent release is the award-winning foundation training book, Enjoying Dog Agility. Another new DVD including the foundation training of Colt is planned for 2011.
